FAQ
- Where can we buy Benny Blanco Tortillas?
I’m glad you asked! You can find us every Saturday morning at the Gilbert Farmer’s Market in Downtown Gilbert, AZ. There, you will meet the bald fella that makes every tortilla, and get the Specialty “Sabor del Día” (Flavor of the Day) The largest selection, and largest quantity is here.
Can’t get to Gilbert? Saturdays all booked up? No problem!
Our Tortilla Factory is located in downtown Apache Junction 189 West Apache Trail Unit A109. (Right next to Caring Critters Animal Hospital) We are open for business on Thursdays from 11am to 6 pm. (Only on Thursdays!)
We also have a host of retail outlets around the Valley, from Gilbert to Cave Creek, and Mesa to downtown Phoenix. Click the "LOCATIONS" button in the top right corner of this page for the full list.
- Vegan? vegetarian? Gluten Free? Dairy Free? Paleo? Whole30?
YES!
We have many Vegan varieties, available in both Rouge Bordeaux Wheat and Unbleached White Sonora. Our Gluten Free Tortillas are made with Otto’s Naturals Cassava Flour and EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) and meet the requirements for Gluten Free, Paleo, AIP, Whole30 and Vegan/Vegetarian diets. (only available at the Gilbert Farmers Market)
All of our tortillas are Dairy Free and Egg Free (unless it's a cheesey Specialty). We’re not doing anything tricky, they’re just not needed for traditional tortillas. It’s kind of like saying “Gluten Free Water”.
(Disclaimer- Gluten Free Tortillas are made in the same kitchen and on the same equipment as other wheat products. While precautions are taken to avoid cross-contamination, please use your own discretion)
- To refrigerate, or not to refrigerate, that is the question
YES!
Benny Blanco Tortillas are made with simple, fresh ingredients. That means no preservatives. A day or two on the counter is fine, but for maximum shelf life, please refrigerate!
- How long will my tortillas last?
Depends on the recipe. The Heirloom Corn Tortillas are best if devoured in under a week. The O.G. Traditional with Lard is fresh for a solid 10-14 days, and the Heritage Grain Tortillas will remain fresh for up to 10 days as well. These all assume refrigeration! Corn is best when used within a week.
But let’s be real. Who has a pack of tortillas for more than a couple days?
- Do you make chips?
Sometimes! We do not have a fryer in our kitchen, so I have to partner with other local kitchens to fry up some tasty flour tortillas when I have a few extra. They are quite the treat, so if you see that we have them, don't miss out!
